Salzburgerland  >  Austria

The Postalm is Austria’s largest alpine pasture plateau. A good starting point for many hikes and nice way to see alpine birds along the way.

Beschreibung

The Postalm has many well-marked hiking trails at all levels of difficulty so you can explore the area the way you want. On the 8.5 km hike indicated on the map below, you walk through alpine meadows, forests and along rocky walls and reach beautiful viewpoints. Along the way you can encounter alpine birds like Alpendohle, Alpenbraunelle, Kolkrabe, Steinadler and Tannenhäher and if you are lucky some Bartgeier or Gänsegeier, although these vultures are a rare sight here. Sometimes Auerhuhn are seen along the alpine road that leads to the Postalm. But again, you have to be very lucky for that.
