Beschreibung

The high peaks and mountain pastures in the Obertauern area are a good place to see alpine bird species. You can enjoy beautiful walks there and there are many cable cars that are also open in the summer. Many nice bird species can be found. A frequently seen species is the Alpendohle, but also Kolkrabe, Fichtenkreuzschnabel, Hausrotschwanz, Steinschmätzer and Tannenhäher can be found here.

Zugang

There are many hiking opportunities around the village of Obertauern and many cable cars also operate in summer. Please note, this is subject to payment. The higher areas are by far the most interesting. These can be reached via walking paths or gondola lifts. The hike shown on the map is a moderate circular hike of 9 km to the Seekarspitze. Good fitness required. You can do this walk without the gondola. But you can also take the gondola to the area. Make sure you find out which cable cars are open in the summer before you set off. The walk to the Seekarspitze is just a suggestion. There are many longer/shorter and lighter/heavier hiking trails in the Obertauern area to choose from.
