Beschreibung
The paths crossing Nussberg on the outskirts of Vienna are a popular morning and weekend walking area, and provide habitat for the region's common forest and open country species. The area's main bird attraction is a small population of Zaunammer which appears to have established itself in the last few years. Males can typically be heard singing in the open vineyards in spring along the main path of Eichelhofweg between Kahlenberg at the top of the hill and Nußdorf at the base, but the birds seem to be present year-round. In late spring through summer, a morning of birding can be combined with visits to the local vineyards' small, outdoor taverns, which offer food and non-alcoholic drinks in addition to their wines.

Zugang
The paths at Nussberg can be easily accessed via public transportation from multiple directions. From the south, take the D-line streetcar to Nußdorf-Beethovengang, then walk Bockkellerstraße to Nußberggasse, where you can turn either left (then right on Eroicagasse) or right (then left on Eichelhofstraße) to reach the uphill paths to Nussberg. From the north, take the 38A bus toward Kahlenberg (most easily boarded at Heiligenstadt U-Bahnstation) to its terminus at Kahlenberg. Kahlenberg also has a large parking site for those arriving by personal automobile. From this site, a short walk downhill through the forest along the Kahlenberger Straße will reach Nussberg. The 38A bus also serves a shortened route that ends at Wagenweise; the path to the east of this stop will also reach the open trails.
