The beauty of Panboola is that contains a number of different ecosystems ranging from eucalypt forests to open paddocks, fresh water billabongs and salt marsh and mangrove communities. A series of easy walking paths connect these various areas.
The constant wetting and drying cycle of the wetlands attracts many birds including Egrets, Spoonbills, Cormorants, Darters, Swamphens and Coots, as well as Dotterels and Chats, Kingfishers, Reed Warblers, Treecreepers, birds of prey etc. Over 170 bird species have been identified at Panboola
During Summer Latham's Snipe can be found and Gang-gang Cockatoo can be easily observed. Throughout the year the elusive Southern Emuwren can be found and a great range of Honeyeaters are attracted to nectar producing flowers. Golden-headed Cisticola and Superb Fairywren can be seen and heard in patches of tall grass.

Panboola is conveniently located on the southern edge of Pambula village. Ample parking can be found at entry points along Bullara St and the Princes Highway. Press P on the map for directions.
The area is best explored on foot with easy and level paths ranging from 1 - 5+ km in length ensuring there is something for everyone.
Panboola is open to the public and can be visited at all times of the year at no cost.
