Beschreibung
Jermuk Waterfall, also known as Mermaid’s Hair, cascades from a height of over 70 meters, surrounded by rugged cliffs, lush forests, and a fast-flowing river. The mix of rocky outcrops, wooded slopes, and riverbanks creates a rich habitat for various bird species.
The cliffs provide perfect sites for Gänsegeier , often seen soaring overhead, and also for Blaumerle and Rotstirngirlitz. The river attracts Wasseramsel and Gebirgsstelze, which forage along the water’s edge. Open skies above the waterfall are also great for spotting passing raptors.
What makes this site special is its dramatic scenery, fresh mountain air, and excellent birdwatching opportunities.

Public transport: you can take a minibus (marshrutka) from Yerevan’s Kilikia bus station to Vayk and then a taxi to Jermuk (30 km). Direct minibuses to Jermuk run less frequently. By taxi: Hiring a taxi from Yerevan is also an option and costs more but offers flexibility.
The area is best explored on foot. The park has walking trails leading through forest and scenic viewpoints. Allow 2-4 hours for a relaxed walk, birdwatching, and enjoying the scenery.

The metal stairs to the Jermuk Hotel is quite rusty and unstable; it might be better to return to the Ani Hotel or the Israel Ori monument.
