Bird species you might encounter here include Orange-necked Partridge, Germain's Peacock-Pheasant, Siamese Fireback, Banded Kingfisher, Lesser Adjutant, Woolly-necked Stork, Blue-rumped Pitta, Bar-bellied Pitta, Black-and-buff Woodpecker, Black-and-red Broadbill, Blyth's Frogmouth, Gray-faced Tit-Babbler and the endangered Green Peafowl.

Access

Cat Tien lies roughly 150 km north of Ho Chi Minh City. Getting here from Ho Chi Minh City by car takes about three and a half hours. You can also rent a motorcycle, or use the bus service between Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat. In the latter case, get off at Tan Phu (km 124) and take a bus or taxi from there to Nam Cat Tien, the village on the eastern side of Dong Nai River.

There are several nice and often quite affordable accommodations in Nam Cat Tien, including a few right in the park. Once in the village, simply walk to the small ferry landing where ferries take you to the other side several times per hour during the day. Renting a bicycle and taking it across is also a good idea, as the system of roads and trails in the park is extensive. Another great option for bird watching and photography are boat tours on Dong Nai River. Best time for a visit is December to April.
