Description

Loch Ruthven is a beautiful loch quietly situated in the Highlands, set among woodland and heather-covered hills. The water is fringed with sedge beds. There are several viewing points and a nice bird hide at the end of a short walk. Nordisk Lappedykker and Rødstrubet Lom breed here. Sometimes also Sortstrubet Lom is observed.

Access

Loch Ruthven is located in the Highland region of Scotland, southeast of Loch Ness. Accessible by car. No public transport. It is an RSPB site with a small car park at the start of the walk. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. Explore on foot only. During the breeding season you can spend 2-3 hours here as the Nordisk Lappedykker are not always easy to find.
