Kearney Village is a National Trust village with a beautiful rocky beach with numerous waders and seabirds and farmland, which is home to many meadow birds.
With a mixture of coastline and agricultural fields, Kearney is an amazing place to see Fiskehejre, Strandskade, Knortegås, Rødben, Stenvender, Storspove, Småspove, Skarv, Gravand, Tornirisk, Gærdesmutte, Gråspurv, Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl, Engpiber and Skærpiber.
The walk is easy, along a coastal path, with an abundance of birds to see, especially after the Winter migrants arrive, when the area is also much quieter.
Kearney is situated near the bottom of the Ards Peninsula, on the Irish Sea coast, close to Cloughey and Portaferry. There is a large car park at Kearney Village, with public toilets. Click on the P in the map for directions to the car park.
Kearney Village, itself, is a pretty small village restored by the National Trust to give the authenticity of a traditional fishing village. All dogs must be kept on leades and it can get very busy, with visitors, during school summer holidays.
