Description

A pair of Fiskeørn has been breeding in the Glaslyn Valley since 2004. The first breeding Fiskeørn in Wales for hundreds of years were attracting thousands of visitors. Glaslyn Wildlife was set up to continue to protect the Fiskeørn in the valley and highlight the wealth of other wildlife in the area. A visitor centre and a hide were opened. The hide has excellent views with telescopes of the Glaslyn nest and a second nest at Pont Croesor, where another pair of Fiskeørn started breeding in 2020.

Access

Glaslyn Wildlife is located just north of the town of Porthmadog at Pont Croesor. Take the A487 north from Porthmadog. Turn right on to the A498 at Tremadog. After about 2.5 miles turn right on to the B4410. The entrance is on the right before the level crossing. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. By Bus: service between Porthmadog and Beddgelert every two hours. It doesn’t stop directly at the site so a short walk is necessary.

The visitor centre is open daily from end of March to September, with visiting hours from 10:30 to 16:30. Check their official website for any updates or seasonal changes (see the link below). Entry is free but a suggested donation of £ 3 per adult is welcome. For more info you can mail info@glaslynwildlife.co.uk.
