The popular and beautiful spot of Dartmeet sits near the centre of Dartmoor, about 4 or 5 miles east of Two Bridges.
Dartmeet acts as a meeting point of the two major tributaries of the River Dart which are the East Dart and the West Dart. The Dartmeet area is known for its high number of stepping stones on which you can cross the rivers when the water levels are relatively low. Nice area to combine a beautiful walk with birdwatching. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Vandstær, Bjergvipstjert, Misteldrossel, Sortmejse, Sumpmejse, Ravn, Gulspurv, Spætmejse and Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl. Note that in summer it can be crowded along the river and on the paths.
Zoom in on the map and click on the P in the map for directions to the Dartmeet Car Park. The 11 km circular walk indicated on the map is a beautiful walk with the backdrop of Dartmoor National Park. The walk will take you between 3 to 4 hours and starts at Dartmeet Car Park. Taking in three stepping stones, countryside, Laughter Tor, and a walk back along the river. There are a few hill climbs so make sure to wear sturdy shoes. Note: avoid this walk after heavy rain! There are also many options for shorter walks in the area.
