Series of 19 locks and feeder lakes on Kennet and Avon Canal, west of Devizes.
The Kennet and Avon canal is a popular leisure resource, busy with narrowboats in summer. At other times the reedbeds, open water and wooded areas attract herons, egrets, wildfowl, Isfugl, woodpeckers, Sivsanger, Rørspurv and Skarv.
By boat, hire from numerous boatyards along the canal. To pass through the locks takes 5/6 hours. By car, from A361 Trowbridge-Devizes road, take B3101 towards Rowde then right after half a mile. Regular buses from Devizes. Nearest train station, Melksham, 6 miles away. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 2,5 km.
