Description

Brandon Marsh has 8 bird hides situated around the reserve, overlooking pools hosting flocks of Pibeand, Krikand and Skeand in winter, amongst smaller numbers of Hvinand. Scrapes host passage waders in spring and autumn, with breeding Rødben, Strandskade and Lille Præstekrave in summer. Other notable breeding species include good numbers of Rørsanger, Sivsanger and Cettisanger, Gøg and Vandrikse. Lærkefalk are everpresent throughout summer and into autumn. During the winter Brandon is often host to a Caspian Gull which winters amongst the gulls on East Marsh, with a few Yellow-legged Gulls mixed in too. Notable rarities over the last few years have included Kærløber and Stribet Ryle, Thorshane, Vendehals and Rødhovedet Tornskade.

Access

Located off Brandon lane, best access is by driving but it is possible to cycle or walk from nearby Brandon village or Binley. Once parked, explore the reserve on foot.
