Description

Bovey Heathfield is easy accessible just off the A38 next to Heathfield. Straight off the A38 this reserve can be explored within an hour. Paths lead you through a heathland landscape of gorse and heather. Natravn, Gulspurv and Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl are regular sightings.

Access

Leave A38 at Drumbridges Roundabout and take turn towards Bovey Tracey. Take first right on to Battle Road, then second left on to Cavalier Road. Proceed through industrial estate before turning left into Dragoon Close. A trackway to the reserve is almost immediately on your right. Free road parking is available in Heathfield industrial estate. The paths are unpacked and can be dusty. There are some small hills.

Additional to birds this is a fantastic reserve to see reptiles such as common lizards and adders and rare butterflies such as white admirals. Wasp spiders and potter wasps also can be seen in summer.
