Former sludge settling basin of a gravel pit.
Bärmatte is a small wetland where seemingly undisturbed by the nearby highway, a wide variety of birds can be observed. Vandrikse and Lille Lappedykker nest in the reeds. A breeding wall specially built for this species houses a colony of Digesvale. Bärmatte is also a regionally important resting place for waders. Also habitat of more than 20, partly rare dragonfly species.
At the highway underpass there are some parking places. Then walk on a narrow path along the highway to the observation post.
