Description
Rocksjön is a lake with nesting, resting and wintering birds. Some fifty species nest at the lake, and a total 175 species of bird have been recorded at Rocksjön. In the reed beds you can hear Rørspurv in the spring, and Toppet Lappedykker, Blishøne and Grågås nest along the shore. Stor Skallesluger, Hvinand and other birds overwinter because the water remains open. Isfugl, Rørhøg and Stor Flagspætte can also be observed in the area.

Access
Rocksjön is easy accessible from the city of Jönköping. Via the A6 area turn left to the youth hostel. Via the Munksjöbron bridge, go round Spira, turn off left at the Kålgård roundabout and right again to the John Bauer park next to the reserve. Parking at the youth hostel on the eastern side of the lake, at the John Bauer park on the west side, or at Ryhov/A6 area. Click on a P in the map for directions. Public transport: Train: Vaggeryd railway, station Rocksjön. Bus to Norrahammar, busstop Vinterviken. Or to Ryhov/Råslätt, busstop Rocksjön.
From the John Bauer park you can walk along a boardwalk through reed beds, over a stream and canal to a cycle track, old railway track, and around the entire lake. The circular walking route is about 3,5 km.
