Description

The Mas de Melons area consists of a rocky environment where Sørgestenpikker can be found, and it is also one of the areas with the highest density of Stor hornugle. It is surrounded by steppe and dryland areas, making it an ideal habitat for birds typical of this type of habitat. The surroundings are a 1431-hectare agricultural area in the drylands in Lleida. It is home to the largest population of Spidshalet Sandhøne in Catalonia, although other steppe bird species such as Triel, Dværgtrappe, and Dværglærke are also found there. These birds find their ideal habitat in the mosaic of fallow land, wastelands, barley fields, olive groves, and almond orchards in this area.
