The wetland of Padul is a protected area within the Sierra Nevada Nature Reserve. It occupies an area of approximately 300 hectares.
Humedal de Padul is a wetland that is considered to be one of the most important in southeast Spain. It is a Special Area for the Protection of Birds (SPA) and a RAMSAR Wetland. The wetland has reed beds, shallow waters, flooded grasslands and some scattered trees and bushes. The area is surrounded by open agricultural fields and orchards. Up to 205 species of birds have been counted here. Birds include Lille Lappedykker, Purpurhejre, Vandrikse, Sydlig Stor Tornskade, Pirol, Drosselrørsanger, Sydlig Nattergal, Helena-astrild, Grå Fluesnapper, Rørhøg, Biæder, several species of ducks and the rare Dværgrørvagtel.

Espagnol: En el municipio de Padul, la Laguna o Humedal de Padul es una zona protegida como Área de Reserva dentro del parque natural de Sierra Nevada. Ocupa una superficie próxima a 300 Has. Es por todo ello, que este humedal se ha declarado como Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves (ZEPA) y se encuentra dentro del convenio RAMSAR, como Humedal de Importancia Internacional. Se han llegado a contabilizar hasta un total de 205 especies de aves. Incluyendo Lille Lappedykker, Purpurhejre, Vandrikse, Sydlig Stor Tornskade, Pirol, Drosselrørsanger, Sydlig Nattergal, Helena-astrild, Grå Fluesnapper, Rørhøg y Biæder.
Humedal de Padul is located just east of the town of El Padul, 20 km south of the city of Granada. You can make a 5 km circular walk around the wetland. Along the path there are several bird hides. You can also visit the El Aguadero Nature Centre. Close to the visitor center is a small parking. Click on the P in the map for directions. If this parking is full you can park a little further on at the parking of restaurant Montesol.

Espagnol: Humedal de Padul se encuentra justo al este del pueblo de El Padul, 20 km al sur de la ciudad de Granada. Un paseo circular de 5 km recorre el humedal. En el Aula de la Naturaleza El Aguadero pueden encontrar toda la información sobre estas aves y sus periodos de migración. Entre sus carrizales y aneas existen varios senderos peatonales y diversos equipamientos públicos, entre ellos miradores y ‘hides’, que permiten disfrutar de la observación.
