Description

Desembocadura del RIU Gaià is an area that has a rich birdlife. The Gaià river flows through green surroundings to Tamarit beach, where the river flows into the Mediterranean Sea. It is a small and easily accessible site, where you can observe many different birds. Birds you can observe include Hvidbrystet Præstekrave, Lille Lappedykker, Silkehejre, Audouinsmåge, Splitterne, Sorthovedet Sanger, Gærdeværling and Topskarv.

Access

Desembocadura del RIU Gaià is located directly southwest of the town of Altafulla. From Altafulla you can get there walking along the beach or from President Compays Street. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking area. You can also reach the area by train from Tarragona to the Altafulla-Tamarit railway station, marked with (1) on the map. From the railway station it is about a 2 km walk to the mouth of the river.
