Description

Namiseom Island (남이섬) is an inland island in a river. In summer, you can observe Japanese Scops-Owl, Himalayan Owl, and Northern Boobook. Since it is a breeding ground, please be quiet and try not to disturb the bird when you observe it. You can also observe Eurasian Nuthatch, Black-naped Oriole, Great Spotted Woodpecker, and Dollarbird. If you are lucky, you will have the chance to observe Ruddy Kingfisher and Black-capped Kingfisher. While you wait for the boat at the dock, you can easily observe Eastern Red-rumped Swallow.

Access

Namiseom Island is located south of Chuncheon City, close to the town of Gapyeong. You can access Namiseom Island by boat from Gapyeong Wharf. It is a short 5-minute ferry ride. You can park nearby Gapyeong Wharf before you enter the island. Press P on the map for directions. By train: Gapyeong Station is a 1.5 km walk from Gapyeong Wharf.
