Description
Sosenki is a relatively small area in the Sanok town, being partially covered in pine trees (for which the Polish name derives from). The main areas of interest here, putting aside nearby San River banks, are: pine tree park, two fishing ponds, surrounded by mixed shrubbery and trees, and also a fen - with its own nature/educational trail. The fen is a part of the PLB180003 "Góry Słonne" Natura 2000 area. It's mainly known for species of water-dependant birds, but also some woodland species and many birds of prey, having their territories there and nearby. Some species of water-dependant birds that can be found here in nesting season are: Gråand, Krikand, Knopsvane, Lille Lappedykker, Vandrikse, Rørhøne, Blishøne, Vibe, Lille Præstekrave, Dobbeltbekkasin, Mudderklire, Sort Stork, Fiskehejre, Sølvhejre, Isfugl, Pungmejse, Sivsanger, Rørsanger, Drosselrørsanger, Gul Vipstjert, Hvid Vipstjert and Rørspurv.
Many other water-dependant species can be met during migration or during winter, especially if the surface of ponds isn't covered with ice, like: Atlingand, Skeand, Knarand, Pibeand, Spidsand, Taffeland, Hvidøjet And, Troldand, Hvinand, Lille Skallesluger, Stor Skallesluger, Toppet Lappedykker, Plettet Rørvagtel, Brushane, Enkeltbekkasin, Svaleklire, Sortklire, Hvidklire, Tinksmed, Rødben, Hættemåge, Stormmåge, Kaspisk Måge, Fjordterne, Sortstrubet Lom, Rødstrubet Lom, Skarv, Dværghejre, Nathejre, Savisanger and Bjergvipstjert. Some birds of prey that can be found here in nesting season: Hvepsevåge, Lille Skrigeørn, Kongeørn, Rørhøg, Spurvehøg, Duehøg, Havørn, Musvåge, Natugle, Skovhornugle, Tårnfalk and Lærkefalk. Migrating/wintering species: Fiskeørn, Blå Kærhøg, Hedehøg, Sort Glente, Fjeldvåge, Aftenfalk and Vandrefalk.
Forest/park and shrubbery is also home to many woodland species, such as: Ringdue, Gøg, Stor Flagspætte, Lille Flagspætte, Gråspætte, Grønspætte, Sortspætte, Pirol, Skovskade, Ravn, Sortmejse, Sumpmejse, Fyrremejse, Blåmejse, Musvit, Gulbug, Gransanger, Løvsanger, Halemejse, Munk, Gærdesanger, Fuglekonge, Spætmejse, Træløber, Korttået Træløber, Gærdesmutte, Stær, Misteldrossel, Sangdrossel, Solsort, Grå Fluesnapper, Rødhals, Bogfinke, Kernebider, Grønirisk, Stillits. Some, like Dompap and Grønsisken can be met here only during migration/winter. Other species, more related to fen and open habitats in general are: Vagtel, Fasan, Engsnarre, Hvid Stork, Rødrygget Tornskade, Husskade, Gråkrage, Sanglærke, Græshoppesanger, Tornsanger and Gulspurv.

The area is located along the San river near the town of Sanok. It's best to explore the area on foot or by bike. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
