A nice little bird hide in the middle of Thames with a look on a small wader roost site.
Through a bit of mangrove forest you get to this bird hide that overlooks a small roost site of waders and gulls. While not as spectacular as many other roost sites in the Firth of Thames, this is still a nice spot where you can get a good look at South Island Oystercatcher, Pied Stilt, and often also Black-billed Gull.
There is a short, flat path from the promenade through the mangrove forest to the bird hide. There are plenty of parking spots in the area. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates.
Beware of the sandflies that want to munch on your legs.
