Description
The Uitlandse Polder has a rich history and was restored in 2015 to its original state from around 1600, when the polder was reclaimed. The area is located near the town of Calllantsoog and offers a landscape with grasslands, reed beds, and flowering plants, including orchids. Butterflies and dragonflies are also abundant. The flora and insect fauna attract many birds. During migration, you can observe rare birds such as Bynkefugl or Sort Stork.
The circular walk also includes the Vel woods (scrubland) and an old ring dike. There is also a small pond. The Uitlandse Polder plays a crucial role in regulating the water level, which helps prevent the nearby Zwanenwater nature reserve from drying out. The conditions are slightly hilly and some areas are very wet, especially during the winter months. From June to September, the area is grazed by cows.
Opportunities for the Uitlandse polder include further development, as the polder was only redeveloped as a nature reserve 10 years ago. Threats to the area include recreational pressure, the large number of campsites nearby, and nitrogen deposition.

Nederlands: De Uitlandse polder is een prachtig landschap met lage duintjes ("nollen"), schraalland met sloten en rietkragen. Dit geeft bijzondere flora en fauna! De polder heeft een rijke historie en is in het bezit van Natuurmonumenten. Deze organisatie heeft in 2015 de polder teruggebracht naar de oorspronkelijke situatie van rond 1600, toen de polder werd ingepolderd. Het gebied is gelegen nabij Calllantsoog en biedt een landschap met grasvelden, rietkragen en diverse bloeiende planten, waaronder orchideeën. Tevens komen er veel dagvlinders en libellen voor. Door de flora en insectenfauna komen er veel vogels voor. In de trektijd kun je bijzondere waarnemingen doen zoals bijvoorbeeld Paapje of Zwarte Ooievaar.
Onderdeel van de rondwandeling is ook het bosje van Vel (struweel) en een oude ringdijk. Behalve in droge periodes is er ook een plasje. De Uitlandse Polder heeft een cruciale rol in het reguleren van de waterstand, wat helpt om uitdroging van het nabijgelegen natuurgebied het Zwanenwater te voorkomen. Omstandigheden zijn licht heuvelachtig en sommige stukken erg nat, vooral in het winter halfjaar. Van juni t/m september wordt het gebied begraasd door koeien.
Kansen voor de Uitlandse polder zijn: verder ontwikkelen, de polder is pas 10 jaar terug als natuur heringericht. Bedreigingen voor het gebied zijn de recreatiedruk/veel campings in de buurt en stikstofdepositie.

Access
The Uitlandse polder is located directly next to the Zwanenwater nature reserve. Admission is free and open from sunrise to sunset. Parking is available in the Zwanenwater parking lot. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The polder is also easily accessible by public transport: Connexion bus line 152, every hour from Schagen train station, including weekends. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Nederlands: De Uitlandse polder ligt direct naast natuurgebied het Zwanenwater. Toegang is vrij en toegankelijk van zonsopkomst tot zonsondergang. Parkeren kan op het parkeerterrein van het Zwanenwater. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats. De polder is ook per openbaarvervoer goed te bereiken: Buslijn Connexion, lijn 152, ieder uur vanaf treinstation Schagen, ook in het weekeinde. Honden mogen mee mits aangelijnd.

The circular walk through the Uitlandse polder is 3.3 km. Starting point at the intersection of Zuidschinkeldijk and Uitlandseweg. The route is marked with blue arrows. There are a few stiles over fences. In the winter months, the path can be very muddy in some places and sometimes the circular walk is not entirely possible without boots. It is then possible to complete the circular walk along the adjacent cycle path/road.

Nederlands: De rondwandeling door de Uitlandse polder is 3.3 km. Startpunt kruising Zuidschinkeldijk en Uitlandseweg. Route is aangegeven met blauwe pijlen. Er zijn een paar overstappen over hekken. In het winter halfjaar is het pad op sommige plekken erg drassig en is de rondwandeling niet geheel mogelijk zonder laarzen. Het is dan wel mogelijk de rondwandeling af te maken langs naastliggend fietspad/weg.
