Tucked away in the Drents Friese Wold National Park lies the hamlet of Oude Willem. A nice marked walking route has been set out here that leads you along various fens in the Drents-Friese Wold. Don't be alarmed by the concrete bike path that you have next to you in the beginning, you can walk on unpaved hiking trails right through the forestry. From narrow, winding footpaths to a sandy path across the Hoekenbrink, this route has it all. Along the way you may encounter Sanglærke, Dompap, Stor Tornskade, Bynkefugl and Rødrygget Tornskade.

Nederlands: Wandelroute door ontginningsbos uit de jaren dertig van de vorige eeuw in het Drents-Friese Wold. Verscholen in het Drents Friese Wold ligt het gehucht Oude Willem. Hier heeft Staatsbosbeheer een leuke paaltjesroute uitgezet die je langs verschillende vennen in het Drents-Friese Wold leidt. Schrik niet van het betonnen fietspad dat je in het begin naast je hebt, jij wandelt lekker door over onverharde wandelpaden dwars door de boswachterij. Van smalle, kronkelende wandelpaden tot een zandpad dwars over de Hoekenbrink, deze paaltjesroute heeft het allemaal. Onderweg kun je Sanglærke, Dompap, Stor Tornskade, Bynkefugl en Rødrygget Tornskade tegenkomen.
