Description
The Weerepolder is a meadow bird area with many mud puddles and wet areas with herb-rich vegetation in the spring. Water storage facilities have been constructed next to the canal where various water birds, ducks and geese can be seen. Please note: the walking path through the area is closed from March 1 to June 1 due to the breeding season.

Nederlands: Ten noordoosten van Lutjewinkel ligt de Weerepolder. Een vanouds rijk weidevogel gebied welke niet geheel aan de ruilverkaveling ten prooi is gevallen. Vanaf de Mientweg te Lutjewinkel ten westen van het kanaal Omval- Kolhorn en aan de zuidwestzijde van het water de Kromme Gouw ligt het weidevogelreservaat van Staatsbosbeheer. Het betreft in het voorjaar een plasdras weidevogelterrein met kruidenrijke begroeiing. Naast het kanaal is een waterberging aangelegd en later ook nog een waterberging aan de overzijde van de Kromme Gouw. Hier zijn diverse watervogels, eenden en ganzen waar te nemen. In de Weerepolder is de natuur geheel ter beschikking gesteld aan de weidevogels en het beheer is hierop aangepast. Er wordt pas na half juli gemaaid. Inmiddels hebben de laatste jaren ook Grågås en Bramgås het gebied ontdekt. Deze komen in groten getale voor en broeden hier ook. Let op: het wandelpad door het gebied is gesloten voor wandelaars vanaf 1 maart t/m 1 juni in verband met het broedseizoen.

Accessibility by public transport: From Schagen station take bus 417 to Lutjewinkel bus stop Weereweg. By car: park in Lutjewinkel and explore the area on foot from there. Press P in the map for directions. The area is easy to explore via the North Holland hiking trail, Kolhorn - Obdam. From the Mientweg next to number 25 and follow the Kooipad in a northerly direction.This path runs partly next to the canal to the Kolhornerkade in Kolhorn and can therefore also be followed from here as a starting point on the Kromme Gouw in a southerly direction. Dogs and bicycles are prohibited. Please note: the path is closed from March 1 to June 1 due to the breeding season.

Nederlands: Bereikbaar met OV: Vanuit station Schagen bus 417 naar Lutjewinkel halte Weereweg. Met de auto vanuit Lutjewinkel te voet de bereiken. Het gebied is goed te verkennen via het Noord-Hollands wandelpad, Kolhorn - Obdam. Vanaf de Mientweg naast nummer 25 en het Kooipad te volgen in noordelijke richting. Dit pad loopt voor een gedeelte naast het kanaal tot aan de Kolhornerkade in Kolhorn en is dus ook vanaf hier als beginpunt de Kromme Gouw in zuidelijke richting te volgen. Honden en fietsen zijn verboden. Let op: het pad is gesloten voor wandelaars vanaf 1 maart t/m 1 juni in verband met het broedseizoen.
