The Balgzandpolder is extremely rich in birds. This viewpoint for resting wading birds is located east of the city of Den Helder on the Wadden Sea coast.
The Balgzandpolder has a lookout point where you can observe resting wading birds very well. Especially during high tide many bird species rest here. See the link to the tide table at the bottom of this page to check the optimal visiting time. Among the birds you can encounter are Gravand, Knortegås, Lille Kobbersneppe, Strandskade, Dobbeltbekkasin, Sortklire, Rødben, Klyde, Spidsand and Rørhøg.
