2-mile long peninsula near Castletown and Derbyhaven, joined to mainland by a sandspit. Good for birding, 153 species recorded.
Langness has good seawatch viewpoints north and south. The east coast is rocky and good for Alpekrage, Ringdrossel, Mosehornugle, Slørugle and Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl. The west coast has exposed mud and seaweed-strewn rock at low tide frequented by herons, egrets, Strandskade, Gravand, Sortgrå Ryle, Stenvender and Storspove. Rarities seen here include Kalanderlærke, Hvidrygget Ryle and Turteldue.
Isle of Man can be visited by ferry from Liverpoool, Heysham, Belfast or Dublin, or by air from several airports. Car park at Derbyhaven which is on a regular bus route, then short walk across to Langness. Or park on the island near the lighthouse. Be aware there is a golf course; dont obstruct play or become an accidental target.
