There is a large swampy flood area next to the village of Tiszaalpár. This part of the Great Plain was formed by the Tisza.
Nagy-tó means Big Lake. In this large wetland next to the village of Tiszaalpár there is a big heron nesting colony in the willows-jungle around the Big Lake. Plenty of Nathejre, Kohejre, Silkehejre, Sølvhejre, Fiskehejre, Purpurhejre, Skestork and Tophejre nest in the area. But there are many other interesting birds to see like Sorthovedet Måge, Gråstrubet Lappedykker, Lille Skallesluger, Havørn and Rødstrubet Piber.
You can easily get there by car, park at Tiszaalpár and explore the area on foot.
