The 120-hectare fish ponds of the Herzogs von Croy are located near Dülmen. The Torfvennteich is part of it and is used for fish farming in summer.
The Torfvennteich is designated as a nature reserve. It is the heart of the "Dülmener Seenplatte" and is considered an insider tip among nature lovers. It is fished out at the beginning of winter and then it dries up well into January.
The Torfvennteich is located 8 km west of Dülmen. The place is easy accessible by car or by bike. You can park close to the bird hide. Click on the P in the map for directions.
