Description

The Rottauensee is a reservoir near Postmünster with approximately 300 hectares of lake and shore area, about 20 hectares are biotope areas and 50 hectares are extensively cultivated meadow areas. The lake also serves as a local recreation area. Birds that can be observed are depending on the season Fjordterne, Sølvhejre, Krikand, Stor Skallesluger, Lille Præstekrave, Tinksmed, Skarv, Isfugl and Pirol.

Access

The Rottauensee is located near Postmünster and Pfarrkirchen. Free parking is available in several places around the lake. Click on a P in the map for directions. You can make a nice circular walk of 6 km around the lake and along the river Rott.
