Artificial lake in a gravel pit
The Mühlfeldsee is the artificial lake of the gravel pit Kiessandtagebau Löbnitz. The area hosts a variety of bird species. Among those are a large colony of Hættemåge , a colony of Fiskehejre and other species such as Sorthovedet Måge , Stormmåge , Middelhavs-sølvmåge , Rødhovedet And and Pungmejse.
The Mühlfeldsee is located directly south of the town of Löbnitz. The lake is best accessed from the east. There is also a possibility to access it from the north, but it is through a gated holiday home complex.
To my knowledge, it isn't feasible to walk or bike a circular path, partly because of the Baustoffwerk Löbnitz in the southwest still being active.
