Description
Am Mähried bei Staden is a nature reserve covering approximately 108 hectares. The reserve is characterized by its diverse landscapes, including meadows ('Käswiese'), pastures, shallow pools and reed beds. The river Nidda flows along the southern edge of the reserve, adding to its ecological richness. The area is managed to maintain its open meadow landscape through regular agricultural use, ensuring that ground-nesting birds and other wildlife can thrive undisturbed.
Due to the proximity to the Nidda, you can especially observe waterfowl and migratory birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Vibe, Hvid Stork, Sanglærke, Gulspurv, Rørspurv, Rød Glente, Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl, Skovspurv and Tårnfalk.
