Description
Waders stop at the Holzendorfer See during the spring and autumn migration. Maybe not in huge numbers, but there is a large species diversity: Brushane, Vibe, Hvidklire, Sortklire, Rødben, Tinksmed, Mudderklire, Svaleklire, Almindelig Ryle, Krumnæbbet Ryle, Dværgryle, Temmincksryle, Stor Præstekrave and Dobbeltbekkasin. There is a chance for rarer species like Kærløber, Islandsk Ryle and Sandløber. Also observed here are Stribet Ryle and Sumpvibe. In the spring, all the "spring" ducks also stop here: Skeand, Spidsand, Atlingand, Krikand and Pibeand. In late autumn you can meet here a large number of Trane and Sangsvane. During the breeding season Vibe, Fjordterne, Lille Præstekrave and Grågås nest here.

Access
Preferably by car. Holzendorfer See is about 15 minutes from Prenzlau. The village of Holzendorf can also be reached by bus. The route along the lake runs along an overgrown dirt road from the village on the southern bank of the water reservoir, from where there is the best access.
