The Hangelarer Heide is a nature conservation area in the Hangelar district of the city of Sankt Augustin.
The area known as Hangelarer Heide belongs geologically to the roughly adjoining Bergische Heideterrasse, and thus to the greater Wahner Heide area. The area consists of a variety of different parts: an airfield site, agricultural land, former gravel and sand pits as well as other excavation areas, open land and meagre grassland. More than 45 plant species, 6 plant communities and 94 animal species were recorded in the area of the Hangelarer Heide.
The Sankt Augustin Ort train stop is 700m away and there is a car park at the open-air swimming pool directly on the Hangelarer Heide. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
