Freiburg is a city worth a visit and the Rieselfeld is close enough to be compatible with a visit to the town. In the wet areas, you can find wetland-loving birds such as ducks, Dobbeltbekkasin, Tinksmed, Sølvhejre, Vandrikse, Vibe and Fiskehejre. Other birds you can see in the surrounding area are Vendehals, Gøg, Stor Tornskade, Rød Glente, Sort Glente, Sanglærke, Rødrygget Tornskade, Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl and Tornsanger. In the forest areas that are adjacent to the nature reserve breed Lille Flagspætte, Mellemflagspætte, Sortspætte, Pirol and Spætmejse.
