Description

The Emscher Auen flood retention basin not only protects the cities on the river Emscher from flooding, but it is also a nice wetland. A special ecological design, which makes use of the synergies between flood protection and nature conservation, creates ideal conditions for migratory birds and breeding birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Rørspurv, Sivsanger, Rørsanger, Kærsanger, Atlingand, Lille Præstekrave, Dobbeltbekkasin, Tinksmed, Svaleklire, Vandrikse, Isfugl, Tornsanger, Gulspurv and Bjergvipstjert.
