Description
The Baggersee Grötzingen is a former gravel pit that is now part nature reserve, part recreational (fishing, bathing zone). In winter there are usually good numbers of Troldand, Knarand, Krikand, Toppet Lappedykker, Fiskehejre and Skarv. They are sometimes joined by smaller numbers or individual Taffeland, Hvinand, Skeand or Mandarin-and.
Most years, some more uncommon or rare species appear at some point during the winter. In recent years, Bjergand, Gråstrubet Lappedykker, Sortand and Fløjlsand have all been seen here. The woods surrounding the lake are a good place to look out for less common woodland species, such as Gråspætte, Lille Flagspætte and Kernebider.
