Description
Alte Elbe is an old arm of the river Elbe near the town of Gerwisch. Good chances to see Havørn, Fiskeørn and Trane. Many waterbirds, especially during migration time (e.g., Sølvhejre, Fiskehejre, Grågås, Sædgås, Skeand, Krikand, Atlingand, Sangsvane, Lille Skallesluger, Stor Skallesluger, Toppet Lappedykker, Lille Lappedykker, Vibe, Hvidklire, Sortklire, Brushane). In the adjacent areas Rød Glente, Sort Glente, Tårnfalk, Sortspætte, Vendehals, and very occasionally Biæder or Hærfugl can be seen.

The Alte Elbe is located near the towns of Gerwisch and Biederitz. From the towns you can access the area via field paths on foot or bicycle. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking place.
