The river mouth of the river Ahr into the Rhine. You can go birding at the river banks, the meadows (Kirkeugle) and in the forests next to the river.
At the river Ahr are breeding Lille Præstekrave and Isfugl. In the floodplains are meadows, forests and a little reedbed. In the meadows are breeding Kirkeugle (10 territories in 2020). Rødrygget Tornskade and Græshoppesanger are possible breeding birds. In the forests are breeding Sydlig Nattergal , Pirol and Mellemflagspætte. You can also see Sort Glente and Lærkefalk during breeding time. In the little reedbed are Rørsanger and Kærsanger (also common next to the Ahr). Spottesanger and Gulbug can also be found in the area.
During migration, you can see migratory birds like Fiskeørn and Svaleklire. In winter you can see some wintering birds like Vandstær.
There is a train station in Linz (direct connections to Cologne and Koblenz), from where you have to cross the Rhine with the ferry to Kripp. Another train station is in Sinzig (direct connections to Bonn and Koblenz) from where you can go directly to the meadows at the southern edge of the area.
You can park in Kripp (follow the B9 until Kripp). The walking route you see on the map is about 7 km.
