Description
The strategic location of Château Peyrelade is perfect to watch birds of prey at eye level. The rock walls on the other side of the Tarn provide space for nesting Gåsegrib. You also have a chance to observe Munkegrib, Alpesejler, Rød Glente and Duehøg. The castle is open to the public from 10 a.m., but the viewpoints are also accessible outside opening hours to avoid the crowds.
There is a car park next to the castle, but a walk to the top from Camping Le Peyrelade is also a nice option. The walking trail takes you past fruit trees and vineyards and along paths through mixed forest where there is a chance of Broget fluesnapper, Topmejse, Spætmejse, Korttået Træløber, Hvid Vipstjert, Sangdrossel, Gransanger, Sumpmejse, Grønspætte, Musvit and Rødtoppet Fuglekonge. Along the banks of the Tarn you will find Vandstær, Bjergvipstjert and the chance of low-flying Gåsegrib.

Access
Parking is available next to Château Peyrelade (free), but if you prefer a walk from the campsite you can also park there and then walk to the top via the forest track. Click on a P in the map for directions. There are no special observation platforms at the castle, but along the paths around the castle there are plenty of opportunities to position a telescope.
