About 5 km long hiking trail that runs through the Laeva mire and pine forests.
The Selli-Sillaotsa trail is located in the Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve, the largest nature reserve in Estonia. In swampy places, the trail runs along the boardwalk. The trail starts in an area mostly surrounded by pine forests mixed with some spruce forests, where Lille Fluesnapper can be heard. In the nighttime it is possible to hear the calls of Slagugle. The observation tower is located on the edge of the forest, where you can have a nice view over the mire and maybe sight a Kongeørn or an Fiskeørn. In the mornings of early spring the Urfugls are actively singing. If you are lucky, you might also meet Tjur on the trail.
The site can only be accessed from the Tallinn-Tartu highway. From the village of Valmaotsa you have to turn to the south to get on the road heading to Palupõhja. After about 7 km of this gravel road, you will reach the first parking lot, which is shown on the map below.
