Description
Sølsted Mose has is an old heath bog that has been restored after it was drained and cultivated during the 1900s. Much of the scrub has been cleared, the water level has been raised in parts and cattle graze the open areas. This means that the special heath bog plants will be protected and has improved conditions for birdlife. The open areas in the bog support typical birds such as Rørdrum, Dobbeltbekkasin, Vandrikse, Bynkefugl, Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl, Savisanger and Græshoppesanger. Sølsted Mose has one of Denmark's densest breeding populations of Blåhals, with upto 30 pairs. Rørhøg also nests here. Also Pungmejse and Trane breed in the bog.
