A complex of adjacent forests with a large and diverse population of forest birds.
Rinkenæs Skov, Dyrehaven and Roden Skov make up the largerst part of the forests, which are located directly next to Gråsten Castle and which are collectively called the Gråsten forests (Gråstenskovene). The easy accessible deciduous forests are located in a scenic, hilly and varied terrain with open grazing areas and forest lakes. There is a rich wildlife with deer, fox, badger and marten. The site contains lakes Margrethe Sø, Slotssøen, Kujborgdam and Storedam. Among the birds you can encounter are Skeand, Hvinand, Dobbeltbekkasin, Lille Lappedykker, Gråstrubet Lappedykker, Sorthalset Lappedykker, Natugle, Isfugl, Stor Flagspætte, Lille Flagspætte, Sortspætte, Lærkefalk and Ravn.
There are marked trails through the forests and several parkings. Click on a P in the map to get directions to that point. The circular walking route shown on the map is 16 km long but is easily split in half.
