Description
Æbelø is a small island with very bird-rich surroundings. The walk across the tidal causeway is worth the trip alone, the island is gem, beautiful views and nature is getting first priority. Among the birds you can encounter are Klyde, Toppet Skallesluger, Ederfugl, Hvinand, Sortand, Storspove, Strandskade, Lille Kobbersneppe, Rødrygget Tornskade and Rørhøg. Parking at Lindøhoved. Click on the P in the map to get directions. You have to walk across the tidal causeway around low tide. IMPORTANT : Be sure to check the tide table. See the link below.

The walk across the tidal causeway takes about an hour and a half. There is a public toilet at Lindøhoved, no running water though. Bring a trovel and biodegradable paper. And lots of water. Staying overnight is not permitted.
The route is marked with sticks, it can be dangerous to leave the route.
You have to go barefooted in the water or have an extra pair of shoes to exchange. It is only recommended to walk the route from mid-May to mid-September.
