A coastal wetland with an elevated walkway through the mangroves. One impressive bird seen flying overhead and nesting nearby is the Osprey.
Carawah Reserve includes mangrove swamp, tidal estuary and bushland. There are a wide variety of birds seen there including marine and coastal, freshwater and land birds. Species seen include Superb Fairywren, Eastern Yellow Robin and Pied Cormorant.
Access from the eastern side of Garnet Adcock Park. You can step off the walkway at various places to walk through the bush. Waterproof footwear is advisable due to the tidal nature of the water in some areas close to the shore.
Many bird species are seen all year round with more activity in spring.
Carawah Reserve is located on the Central Coast Hightway at West Gosford, a short walk or drive from the Gosford CBD. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
