Description
Vardakar (Horom) Reservoir lies in the open highlands of Shirak, surrounded by grasslands and low hills. The mix of open water, muddy shores, and steppe habitats attracts a variety of birds, including Rustand, Hvid Pelikan, Snefinke and various gulls and terns. Raptors like Hedehøg and Ørnevåge can also be seen hunting nearby. The peaceful setting, lack of disturbance, and wide views make it a rewarding spot for birders seeking waterbirds and steppe species in a quiet, scenic landscape.

Sometimes the reservoir guard may say that photography is not allowed or ask you to leave, but it’s usually possible to reach an agreement with him (he likely doesn’t speak or understand English). He usually arrives around 9–10 AM, so it's recommened to visit the place earlier.
