Description

The areas of Beech make up the main components of the SSSI but the other areas include Oak, Alder, Willow and some Ash areas and also wet flushes and open glades that make the area suitable for a wide range of species. Once you reach the top of the site you are into open moorland with the associated species including skřivan polní linduška luční and occasional dřemlík tundrový and moták pilich. Other regular raptors on site include poštolka obecná luňák červený sokol stěhovavý and káně lesní . You can also look for rehek zahradní, žluna zelená, pěnkava jikavec, kukačka obecná and lejsek černohlavý.

Access

Parking: there is a car park at the entrance of the site at the top of Cendle Terrace, Cwm, Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent (sat nav should find it).

The site can only be accessed on foot and has no facility for disabled access. For more detailed information visit the Gwent wildlife trust website www.gwentwildlife.org.

Certain areas of the reserve are steep but if you walk at a leasurly pace it is not too hard.
