Circular coast path walk with wonderful scenery and plenty of birds to enjoy.
Lantic Bay is a secluded cove in Cornwall. It has crystal-clear waters, white sand, and shingle shoreline, all framed by lush countryside and high cliffs. The bay is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is managed by the National Trust. The path high up on the coast has a variety of habitats. Bird species that can be observed include ústřičník velký, kormorán chocholatý, krkavec velký, poštolka obecná, skřivan polní, konopka obecná, strnad obecný, linduška luční and bramborníček černohlavý. Potential for migrants in spring and autumn.
Lantic Bay is located on the south coast of Cornwall, near the village of Polruan. National Trust car parks at Lantic Bay and Lantivet Bay (also toilets here). Press a P on the map for directions to a car park. Parking charges: £2.00 up to 1hr, £4.00 up to 4hrs, £8.00 all day (2025). National Trust members and Blue Badge holders park for free.
Lantic Bay can also be accessed on foot from Polruan. The circular route indicated on the map is about 4 km. The route has a section of country lane walking where care needs to be taken. Coast paths are best walked in dry weather. The path can be slippery after rain.
The walk includes views of Lantic Bay (to the west) and Lantivet Bay (to the east). There is a path down to the beach at Lantic Bay, but it is a steep climb back up to the circular route.
