New Country Park on former railway line with ponds, reedbeds, located between forest and former mining town of Cinderford.
A circular walk at Cinderford Linear Park takes one through dense woodland, scrubland, lakeside and reedbed areas. The paths are firm and suitable for wheelchairs. One may see volavka popelavá, kachna divoká, linduška lesní by the lakes and sluka lesní, krahujec obecný, brhlík lesní, šoupálek dlouhoprstý, lelek lesní and strakapoud malý further afield. The walks shown are both about 2 km.
Steam Mills lake to the north is too disturbed by fishing to be useful, but Lightmoor Pool is worth a visit.
Located on the B road which runs south of Cinderford town. From the east, proceed through Littledean and go left at the top of the hill, follow St White's road for half mile and site is on the right, just past the Ruspidge turn.
From the west, go past Speech House hotel and Dilke hospital, then first left. Parking on site.
The 22 bus from Coleford to Gloucester passes Steam Mills and Cinderford and runs every 30 minutes.
