Small fishing port on Scottish east coast. Best seawatch area in Angus county, also good for autumn migrants.
I was amazed to see that the harbour at low tide is a popular roosting area for autumn migrant flocks of kulík zlatý and rybák malý. Large numbers of alkoun malý, racek malý, chaluha velká, chaluha příživná, chaluha malá, buřňák severní, buřňák temný, racek tříprstý and buřňák lední can be seen from the clifftop walk east of town.
Beyond the Seaton Cliffs reserve, 3 miles on foot from Arbroath, is Seaton Den, a wooded valley frequented by migrant passerines. Rarities like budníček pruhohlavý, sedmihlásek hajní, lejsek malý and pěnice vlašská may turn up in autumn.
Cliffs can be steep, take care with children and dogs. There is a tarmac path.
Arbroath is 14 miles east of Dundee on the A92. Click on a P in the map to get directions.
