Marsh area, located in the Geneva countryside. Close to Jussy and Meinier.
Marais de Sionnet is located in an area of intensive cultivation. In winter and spring, during heavy rains, the river Seymaz overflows; the surrounding plots and fields are then flooded. In recent years, major work has been carried out in several phases to improve the attractiveness of the site for fauna and flora. During the nesting period, you can observe many interesting species, but also during migration, mainly in April – May and a little less in August – September, but birds can be seen all year round. Among the birds you can encounter are lžičák pestrý, čírka obecná, Chřástal vodní, potápka malá, kukačka obecná, volavka popelavá, volavka červená, volavka bílá, čejka chocholatá, bekasina otavní, vodouš bahenní and vodouš šedý.

By car, by bike, on foot. There is parking for vehicles on the side of the road. Click on the P in the map for directions.

La carte indique un parking au coeur du site, mais c'est une erreur. On peut garer les voitures à 500 m (environ) en amont et en aval du site.

The map is wrong. It's not possible to park a car inside the site. Access only on bike or on foot. Cars can be parked 500 m (approximately) upstream and downstream from the site.
Thank you Meisser for your feedback. We changed the parking spot to the correct position.
Has been my "home" birding spot for about two years. The best time is definitely spring migration, when passerines stop over after passing the alps. Due to intense use of land around, this really small spot (telescope only necessary for the far end of Les Creuses) is at times literally crowded with birds. The best spot is the Chemin du Chambet with the wooden "passerelle" between Marais the Sionnet and Les Creuses. The latter can also be scanned from Chemin de Prés-de-l-Oie. The two fields Pré de la Donnaz and Les Prés Pourris in the north are worth a scan as well.
